New York Car Crashes
Approximately 6 million auto collisions are reported annually throughout the United States. Sadly, around 3 million people suffer injuries in these wrecks, while about 40,000 end up losing their lives. In the state of New York specifically, over 300,000 traffic collisions are reported per year that cause tens of thousands of people to sustain injuries and thousands more to lose their lives. The actions of negligent drivers are most often to blame for these crashes.
Drivers can act negligently in various ways; however, speeding, fatigue, intoxication, and distraction are the most common types of negligence exhibited by American drivers. Currently, intoxication and speeding cause more accidents in New York than any other type of negligence.
When it comes to driver distraction, more than 400,000 accidents happen per year. People who choose to drive their cars while distracted often end up causing injurious or fatal accidents. Also, more than 30% of the national accident fatality rate can be attributed to the actions of drivers who are drunk or high. Moreover, more than 50% of people who lose their lives in auto collisions caused by intoxicated drivers are the intoxicated drivers themselves.
