What Injured Individuals Should Know After a Drunk Driving Crashes on Long Island, NY

Drunk Driver Causes Crash on Meadowbrook State Pkwy in Nassau Co., NY

People hurt in a drunk driving wreck are often in a strong legal position to seek compensation. If a drunk driver caused a crash, you can typically file a claim directly against the intoxicated driver regardless of how the accident unfolded. In New York, that claim can cover medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.

If someone is ejected in a crash, they may face injuries like traumatic brain trauma, spinal damage, and severe fractures. These injuries are among the most serious outcomes in any collision.

The Meadowbrook State Parkway runs through the heart of Nassau County, and connects communities like Merrick, Bellmore, and East Meadow to the Southern State Parkway and the barrier islands to the south. Late-night and early-morning hours on Long Island parkways carry elevated risk, particularly on weekends when impaired drivers are more likely to be on the road.

When a driver faces criminal charges, the criminal proceeding runs separately from any civil claim. In those cases, a car accident attorney can file a civil case on your behalf regardless of how the criminal matter resolves, and the evidence gathered by police can often support both proceedings simultaneously.
