Injury Car Accidents in Elizabeth: Statistics and Common Causes
In Elizabeth, New Jersey, as in many parts of the state, car accidents are a significant issue, contributing to thousands of injuries annually. New Jersey reports over 278,000 car accidents each year, with a concerning number of fatalities and serious injuries. The main factors behind these accidents include distracted driving, speeding, driving under the influence, and poor weather conditions. Distracted driving, such as texting or using a mobile phone while behind the wheel, remains one of the leading causes of accidents, significantly increasing the risk of collisions. Speeding and reckless driving further contribute to the severity of these incidents, often leading to fatal outcomes.
In addition, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs remains a major issue, as it impairs judgment and reaction times, making accidents more likely. Drowsy driving, caused by fatigue, and hazardous weather conditions, such as rain or snow, also play a role in car accidents.
