E-Bike Accidents in New Jersey1 Injured in Car and E-Bike Collision at Martine Ave & Midway Ave

E-bike use has surged in popularity across New Jersey, offering a convenient and eco-friendly way to travel. However, this growing trend has also led to a rise in collisions involving cars and e-bikes, especially near busy intersections.

Accidents between cars and e-bikes often result in serious injuries because riders lack the protection offered by enclosed vehicles. Some of the most common causes of these crashes include:

  • Distracted or inattentive driving: Drivers using cell phones or focusing on navigation systems often fail to notice cyclists sharing the road. Even a few seconds of distraction can lead to a devastating crash.
  • Speeding or failure to yield: Excessive speed reduces reaction time and increases the severity of injuries in a collision. When drivers ignore yield signs or traffic lights, cyclists are placed at significant risk.
  • Limited visibility at intersections: Many crashes happen when drivers or cyclists misjudge each other’s speed or visibility is blocked by parked vehicles. Intersections remain one of the most dangerous spots for e-bike riders.
  • Unsafe passing by motorists: Some drivers fail to give cyclists adequate space when overtaking them. This can lead to side-swipe crashes or force the rider off the road, resulting in serious harm.

When an accident occurs, victims can suffer severe injuries such as fractures, head trauma, or internal damage. In addition to physical pain, these accidents often bring emotional distress and significant financial strain.
