Cromwell, NJ – Five-Car Traffic Accident on Rt 9 Hospitalizes Two
Cromwell, NJ (November 22, 2022) – A five-car traffic accident took place on Monday, November 21st, when a driver was unable to stop in time after the vehicle in front of him suddenly braked.
New Jersey State Police said that the collision occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the middle southbound lane of Route 9 near Exit 19. Exit 19 when a 2018 Toyota RAV4 abruptly stopped in heavy traffic and was rammed from behind by the driver of a 2011 Hyundai Elantra.
The crash pushed both cars into the righthand lane, where, between the two of them, they sideswiped three additional vehicles.
Two people were taken by paramedics to Middlesex Hospital for treatment of non-critical injuries. It is unclear which of the five vehicles the two victims came from.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 36-year-old Portland resident, was cited by troopers for following too closely.
