Harlem, NY – Man Killed in Pedestrian Wreck on E 105th St near First Ave
Harlem, NY (July 31, 2024) – a man lost his life while walking in East Harlem on Monday afternoon, July 29, when a vehicle spun out of control, causing a multi-vehicle pileup, according to police. Investigators say that a man, age 51, was operating a white Mercedes near East 105th Street and First Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. when he ran a red light after changing lanes, causing his vehicle to mount a concrete island. The Mercedes then collided with a parked and unoccupied motorcycle and a parked SUV. The SUV was then pushed into the 51-year-old pedestrian who had been walking along the roadway, police said. The SUV also collided with two other vehicles. Four of the five involved vehicles were unoccupied, but one had a 50-year-old passenger inside who was hospitalized with minor injuries. When police arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian unresponsive in the roadway with injuries to one of his legs. EMS took him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity has not been reported at this time. Police in Harlem continue to investigate.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family at this time.
