Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey

Pedestrian accidents in Jersey City remain a serious concern, especially along major corridors like John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Heavy traffic, frequent crosswalks, and distracted drivers make these areas particularly dangerous for people on foot.
Some of the most common causes of pedestrian crashes in Jersey City include:
- Driver inattention – Motorists often fail to notice pedestrians, especially when distracted by phones or other devices.
- Failure to yield – Many collisions happen when drivers ignore traffic signals or do not yield the right of way in crosswalks.
- Speeding – Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the severity of pedestrian injuries.
- Poor visibility – Nighttime conditions, bad weather, or obstructed views make it harder for drivers to spot pedestrians.
- Improper vehicle maintenance – Issues such as missing license plates or broken lights may signal unsafe or negligent driving behavior.
Victims of pedestrian accidents often face long recoveries and overwhelming medical expenses. Hospital stays, surgeries, and rehabilitation create high financial burdens. Many injured pedestrians also lose income while they recover, adding further stress to an already painful situation.
Victims may also pursue compensation for pain and suffering, which accounts for both physical injuries and emotional trauma. Property damage, such as torn clothing or personal belongings, can also be included in claims.
Working with an experienced pedestrian accident attorney is one of the best ways to protect your rights after a serious pedestrian accident. An attorney can investigate the crash, identify the responsible driver, and help secure compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other damages.
