Edison, NJ (May 21, 2026) – An apartment fire in Marina Drive broke out before Wednesday midnight, May 21, and trapped and displaced dozens of residents in Edison. The fire started at the lower-level unit of Valley Manor Apartments and quickly spread through the whole building.
Edison Fire Department and emergency units arrived to find residents hanging from windows on upper floors. Between 10 and 12 people were brought down to safety, including from third-floor windows. Crews used ladders to reach those trapped. Both police and firefighters worked together to carry out the rescues.
Emergency crews transported one person to the hospital. Their condition was said to be stable. A pet did not survive the fire.
Around 45 to 50 residents have been displaced. Some units remain uninhabitable due to damage and electrical issues.
The cause of this fire remains under active investigation.
