Montvale, NJ (March 11, 2025) – An injury bus accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway near Montvale on Monday evening, March 10, when a school bus carrying 31 passengers overturned, injuring 15 people, including children. The incident, reported by the New Jersey State Police, took place around 7:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes, north of Exit 171.

According to the New Jersey State Police, the bus, traveling from Lakewood, NJ, veered off the right side of the highway and flipped onto its side. Firefighters and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and worked to extricate victims, including a 14-year-old boy who had been pinned underneath the bus. This child sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

In total, 15 individuals were injured in the crash. Along with the critically injured child, 13 other children sustained minor injuries, and the 44-year-old bus driver, Joseph Itzkowitz, also from Lakewood, suffered moderate injuries. All victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment, and authorities confirmed that none of the injuries were fatal.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with the New Jersey State Police looking into factors such as road conditions and possible mechanical issues.
