According to New Jersey State Police, the crash involved a car driven by Brenden Cary, 19, of Franklinville, who collided with another car from behind. The impact caused Cary’s car to veer onto the road’s right shoulder, where it struck a disabled minivan, causing it to overturn. Both Cary and his passenger, Dominic Reyes, 19, also of Franklinville, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, a 17-year-old male whose name has not been released, suffered critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, arrived promptly at the scene to control traffic, manage the situation, and extract victims from the wreckage. The driver of the minivan, a 36-year-old woman from Monroeville, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. Three juveniles who were passengers in the minivan suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of Brenden Cary, Dominic Reyes, and the 17-year-old victim during this unimaginably challenging time. Our thoughts are also with all those hurt in this crash.
