New City, NY- Two Car Collision on Route 204, One Driver Deceased

New City, NY (January 24, 2023) – Two cars crashed on Route 304 in New City early Friday morning, on January 20, 2023, according to Clarkstown Police. One person involved in the accident was killed. 

At approximately 11:50 a.m., New City Police, along with firefighters and emergency medical services, were called to Route 304 near East Phillips Hill Road. When the first officer arrived, he found two heavily damaged vehicles. In the middle of Route 304, there was a Hyundai Elantra. A Toyota Highlander was off in the woods next to Route 304 on the northbound side. The initial cause of the accident is unknown. 

In order to remove the two occupants from the Toyota Highlander, the New City Fire Engine Co performed an extrication. In addition to New City Ambulance, Congers Ambulance treated them along with the Rockland Paramedics.

A medical examiner pronounced the Hyundai driver dead on the scene.

For several hours, Route 304 from East Phillips Hill Rd to Squadron Boulevard was expected to be closed in both directions by the Clarkstown Police Department Accident Investigation Team. The accident was expected to be cleared later in the day.

The New City Police have not revealed anything else about the accident as their investigation continues.
