New York, NY (October 15, 2025) – A woman suffered a head injury Tuesday morning, October 14, after being struck by a bicyclist at the intersection of West 42nd Street and 11th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.
According to the New York Police Department, the crash happened around 8:00 a.m. when a bicyclist collided with a 60-year-old female pedestrian in the busy West Side corridor. Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist, and the injured woman, who was conscious and alert, requested medical attention at the scene. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
The bicyclist remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities as officers began their investigation. The intersection, known for heavy morning traffic, was briefly affected while police and medical crews cleared the area.

We wish the injured pedestrian a full and speedy recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in New York
Pedestrian accidents have become increasingly common in New York, especially in high-traffic areas. Crowded intersections see thousands of cyclists and walkers daily, creating a heightened risk of collisions.
When pedestrians are struck by cyclists, even at low speeds, the resulting injuries can be serious or life-altering. Unlike motorists, pedestrians have minimal protection, leaving them vulnerable to a wide range of physical harm. Some of the most common injuries in pedestrian accidents include:
- Head injuries and concussions: Even when wearing a helmet, impact to the head can cause concussions or traumatic brain injuries. These can lead to long-term issues with memory, balance, and cognition.
- Broken bones and fractures: Pedestrians often suffer fractures to their wrists, arms, hips, or legs when they fall or are thrown to the ground during impact. Recovery can take weeks or months.
- Facial injuries: Collisions can result in cuts, bruises, dental damage, or orbital fractures that may require surgery and long-term cosmetic repair.
- Spinal and neck injuries: The force of being struck or falling backward can cause whiplash or more severe spinal cord injuries, sometimes leading to partial or permanent loss of mobility.
- Internal bleeding and organ damage: These injuries are less visible but extremely dangerous. They can occur from blunt force trauma and require immediate medical attention.
Victims of pedestrian collisions may face long recovery periods, extensive medical bills, and emotional distress. In many cases, a pedestrian accident attorney can help victims recover compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future rehabilitation needs.
