Newark, NJ (April 15, 2025) – An injury crash occurred late Tuesday night, April 15, along the southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike Western Spur, just south of Interchange 15E near the US 1&9 overpass. The incident involved two vehicles and temporarily disrupted traffic flow in the area.
According to preliminary information, the collision took place around 9:24 p.m. Authorities report that the two vehicles collided under circumstances still being investigated. Emergency services, including EMS units and the Newark Fire Department, responded promptly to the scene.
One individual sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. Firefighters assisted in clearing debris and helped extricate the occupants from the damaged vehicles. The New Jersey State Police temporarily closed portions of the roadway to manage traffic and allow for emergency operations. All lanes were later reopened after the scene was secured and cleared.
