Newark, NJ – Woman Killed, Another Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash at Clinton Place

Newark, NJ (July 30, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run crash Monday night, July 28, left one woman dead and another injured outside the George Washington Carver Elementary School on Clinton Place in Newark.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Segundo Bunay was driving a van when he struck two women around 8:30 p.m. The victims were reportedly walking near the school when the van collided with them.

One of the women, 28-year-old Eryn Montgomery, tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The second woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is currently recovering from her injuries.

Following the collision, Bunay fled the scene. However, authorities say he later returned and was arrested. He now faces charges in connection with the deadly crash.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
