Brigantine, NJ (July 21, 2026) – A rideshare passenger was found unconscious and unresponsive early Sunday morning, July 19, after the vehicle he was riding in collided with a parked car on West Brigantine Avenue.
The Brigantine Police Department was called to the 200 block of West Brigantine Avenue around 3:47 a.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting a serious wreck.
A vehicle heading north left its lane of travel and struck an unoccupied car parked along the shoulder.
The rear-seat passenger, a man, was found unconscious and unresponsive inside the vehicle. Responders began life-saving measures until additional emergency units arrived, and he was later taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle reported no injuries. A preliminary review confirmed the vehicle was operating as a rideshare and was en route to a pickup at the time.
No further details about the collision were released as detectives continue looking into what happened.
We are thinking of the passenger and his family as he receives care.

Rideshare vehicles that operate in New Jersey, including in Brigantine, are generally required to carry commercial liability coverage that goes beyond a standard personal auto policy, which can come into play when a passenger is hurt.
Rideshare wrecks can involve several layers of insurance, including the driver's personal policy, the rideshare company's commercial coverage, and any other parties involved; a New Jersey rideshare accident lawyer can help sort out which policy applies. Legal guidance can help clarify what options may be available to a passenger recovering from a serious injury.
Rideshare companies owe passengers a duty of care built into the terms both the rider and driver agree to when using the app. This includes vetting drivers, maintaining insurance coverage during active trips, and providing a reasonably safe experience from pickup to drop-off. When a driver causes an accident, questions can arise about whether the company met its obligations to the passenger it was transporting.
