Ridgefield Park, NJ (May 15, 2025) – Early Wednesday morning, a serious crash disrupted traffic along Interstate 80 east in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The incident occurred around 4:18 a.m. on May 15, near milepost 68 at the exit 68A ramp. According to New Jersey State Police, the collision involved two passenger vans and two tractor-trailers.
The crash began when the two vans collided. The force of the initial impact set off a chain reaction that caused the two nearby tractor-trailers to lose control and jackknife across the road. The resulting wreckage blocked multiple lanes and significantly delayed early-morning commuters traveling through the area.
A total of 17 people were involved in the crash. Out of those, six individuals sustained injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. Emergency personnel arrived quickly, assessed the injured, and transported them to local hospitals for further treatment and care. Authorities have not yet shared additional information about the victims, including their identities or conditions. Investigators with the New Jersey State Police are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Auto Accidents in New Jersey

Truck accidents often lead to unique and complex injuries. Below are some of the most common injuries seen in these types of incidents:
- Spinal Cord Damage: The violent force of a truck collision can lead to serious spinal cord injuries, including paralysis. Victims may face a lifetime of physical therapy and medical care, and their ability to work and live independently can be significantly impacted.
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Even when seat belts are worn, the sudden jolts and heavy impact of a truck crash can cause traumatic brain injuries. Symptoms can range from headaches and confusion to lasting cognitive impairment.
- Broken Bones and Crush Injuries: Tractor-trailer collisions frequently result in fractured limbs, hips, or ribs. Crush injuries may require multiple surgeries or even amputation in extreme cases.
- Internal Bleeding: This injury may not be immediately obvious at the scene. However, internal bleeding can become life-threatening quickly, making it one of the most dangerous consequences of a truck crash.
- Psychological Trauma: Survivors often experience anxiety, PTSD, or depression following a truck accident. Therapy and long-term support are sometimes necessary to recover emotionally.
