Shamong Township, NJ (September 3, 2025) – A tragic collision on Monday night, September 1, in Burlington County claimed the lives of two people after their car entered a lake along U.S. Highway 206.

The accident happened just before 8:00 p.m. when a car and a pickup truck collided. After the impact, the car veered off the roadway and plunged into the nearby water.

Emergency crews, including marine units, responded to the scene. Rescue teams searched the lake while paramedics and firefighters worked quickly to provide aid. Sadly, both passengers in the car were pronounced dead following the crash.

Authorities reported that the 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered only minor injuries. He was treated at the scene and did not require extended hospitalization. Officials have not released further details about what led to the collision.

Investigators remained on U.S. Highway 206 into the night to document the scene and gather evidence. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and local police confirmed that the cause of the crash is still under review.
