New Jersey Pedestrian Crashes
Each year, approximately 6 million auto collisions are reported throughout the United States. Sadly, around 3 million people suffer injuries in these wrecks, while about 40,000 end up losing their lives. In the state of New Jersey specifically, around 280,000 traffic collisions are reported per year that cause tens of thousands of people to sustain injuries and thousands more to lose their lives. The actions of negligent drivers are most often to blame for these crashes.
Drivers can act negligently in countless ways; however, speeding, fatigue, intoxication, and distraction are the most common types of behavior that American drivers display. Intoxication and speeding cause more accidents in New Jersey than any other type of negligence.
When it comes to driver distraction, hundreds of thousands of accidents happen every year. People who choose to drive their cars while distracted often end up causing injurious or fatal accidents. Also, more than 30% of the national accident fatality rate can be attributed to the actions of drivers who are drunk or high. Moreover, more than 50% of people who lose their lives in auto collisions caused by intoxicated drivers are the intoxicated drivers themselves.
Suffering injuries in a negligently caused collision can send you to the hospital with painful or debilitating injuries, where you must undergo surgery and other invasive and expensive medical care. You may be stuck in the hospital where you are unable to work and make a living or see your loved ones, which can be stressful and overwhelming.
