Fairfield, NJ – One Killed in Wreck on Fairton-Gouldtown Rd

Fairfield, NJ (April 10, 2024) – A woman from South Jersey lost her life Wednesday, April 10, when she was ejected from a vehicle during a crash at an intersection in Cumberland County. 

Reports show that a Jeep Wrangler was headed north on Fairton-Gouldtown Road in Fairfield just before 4:30 p.m. when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection with Route 49, New Jersey police said. The Jeep crashed head-on with another vehicle headed west on Route 49, then struck an SUV that was stopped in the southbound lane of Fairton-Gouldtown Road. A passenger who was in the rear of the jeep at the time of the crash, identified as 69-year-old Delia Lugo, of Mullica Hill, was ejected from the vehicle. She sustained fatal injuries due to the incident. The driver of the Jeep, front-seat passenger, and the driver of the other vehicle were moderately injured in the accident. They were all transported to an area medical center for treatment. Authorities in Fairfield continue to investigate.
