E-Bike Accidents in New Jersey
E-bikes have become increasingly popular across New Jersey, offering an affordable and eco-friendly way to travel. However, the rise in e-bike use has also led to a surge in serious and sometimes fatal accidents. According to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, local doctors have reported a sharp increase in e-bike-related injuries this year, including fractures and traumatic brain injuries.
The growing number of crashes across New Jersey, including fatal incidents, has prompted communities to discuss stricter safety regulations. Many towns are considering helmet laws, speed limits, and designated bike lanes to reduce the number of collisions.
E-bike accidents share many similarities with motorcycle accidents, as both riders are exposed and vulnerable when struck by larger vehicles. Common causes of these collisions include:
- Drivers failing to yield when turning at intersections
- Distracted driving and poor visibility during high-traffic hours
- Speeding or following too closely behind cyclists
- Limited protective gear for riders
When an e-bike rider is hit by a car or truck, the injuries can be catastrophic. Victims often suffer broken bones, internal injuries, and long-term head or spine trauma. In severe cases, these accidents can result in life-altering disabilities or even wrongful death.
Victims of these types of crashes may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Working with an experienced personal injury lawyer can help victims protect their rights and pursue the financial recovery they deserve.
