
Chesterfield Township, NJ (August 12, 2024) – On Saturday, August 10, a serious multi-vehicle collision on the New Jersey Turnpike in Chesterfield Township resulted in six people being transported to local hospitals for injury treatment.
The crash occurred around 8:32 p.m. on that day, near milepost 56.3 on the southbound outer lanes of the Turnpike, approximately 2.5 miles north of Exit 7 and 4 miles south of Exit 7A. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were made reporting the accident, which involved several vehicles and left some individuals trapped inside their cars.
Emergency services from various departments quickly responded to the scene. New Jersey State Police, along with firefighters from Bordentown Township and Robbinsville, were dispatched to assist with the rescue efforts. Paramedics and several Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances were also sent to provide medical aid to those injured. A total of six people were extricated from the wreckage and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The conditions of the injured individuals have not been disclosed, and further details regarding the severity of the injuries are still pending.
Emergency responders worked diligently to clear the scene and ensure that the roadway was safe for other motorists. The police, fire, and EMS teams remained on site for about an hour before the area was fully cleared and traffic resumed. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by New Jersey State Police, and no additional information has been released at this time.
