New York Traffic Accidents
Pedestrians are often seriously injured in traffic accidents with vehicles. Each year, thousands of pedestrians suffer serious injuries that are debilitating in nature. Sadly, around 5,000 pedestrians lose their lives in traffic accidents throughout the United States per year. The most alarming fact related to these crashes is that over half of them are caused by the actions of negligent drivers.
In the past decade, negligent driving has become the main contributor to the majority of traffic accidents that happen in the United States. Some common forms of negligent driving include intoxication, distraction, speeding, and fatigue. Drivers who choose to operate their vehicles while intoxicated, distracted, at unsafe speeds, or while overtired are risking their own lives and the lives of everyone whom they encounter out on the road. Decisions like these are selfish and dangerous and can end up taking lives in seconds.
Every year, more than 400,000 auto collisions are caused by drivers who choose to operate their vehicles while distracted. Of these accidents, around 3,000 people end up losing their lives. Additionally, over 30% of the national accident fatality rate can be attributed to intoxicated driving.
