Westmoreland, NY (March 5, 2026) – A deadly truck accident early Thursday, March 5, claimed the life of one driver and left another injured along Interstate 90 in the Town of Westmoreland in Oneida County.
The New York State Police said the crash happened around 1:25 a.m. near mile marker 243.7 on the highway. Emergency units responded after receiving reports of a collision involving two tractor-trailers traveling along the roadway.
According to initial information from investigators, one of the trucks hauled an empty car carrier at the time of the accident. The vehicle belonged to A1 Truck Lines and was driven by Ahmad Riyad Alomori.
Police said a second tractor-trailer, operated by a driver working for DNT Express, struck the rear of the car carrier. The force of the impact caused both trucks to move off the roadway and come to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate.
Emergency responders arrived at the crash site shortly after the collision occurred. Crews found severe damage to the trucks and began assisting the drivers involved in the accident. The driver of the DNT Express truck suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. Officials have not yet released the driver’s name while they work to notify the victim’s family.
Responders also treated the driver of the car carrier at the scene. Paramedics later transported Alomori to Wynn Hospital for further medical evaluation. Authorities reported that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Medical staff continued to monitor his condition following the crash.
Investigators remained at the crash site to document the scene and gather information about how the accident occurred.
