Union County, NJ - Richard Bahamonte Killed in Wreck on I-80 near milepost 68

Union County, NJ (February 27, 2024) - A man identified as Richard Bahamonte, 38, lost his life in a fatal traffic accident in Union County on Sunday. Responders went to the scene at around 3:08 a.m. on February 25 after receiving reports concerning the accident on Interstate 80. Troopers and paramedics were seen rendering aid near milepost 68 on the eastbound side of the interstate. Preliminary reports showed a Honda passenger vehicle was headed east when the driver, a 40-year-old man from Hasbrouck Heights, lost control and left the roadway where he struck the concrete barrier. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His passenger, Bahamonte, lost his life in the wreck. 

Police in Union County continue to investigate.
