Head-On Collisions in New York
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of car crashes, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. In rural and suburban areas like Nassau, narrow lanes and limited visibility on roads such as State Route 20 can increase the risk of serious accidents.
According to data from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, head-on collisions make up a small percentage of total crashes but account for a disproportionately high number of fatalities each year. Common causes of these accidents include distracted driving, fatigue, impairment, and poor weather conditions.
Victims of head-on crashes often suffer from catastrophic injuries such as:
- Traumatic brain injuries and concussions
- Spinal cord injuries
- Internal bleeding and organ damage
- Severe fractures and lacerations
Families who lose loved ones in fatal collisions may have legal grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. This type of claim allows surviving relatives to seek compensation for funeral costs, lost income, medical expenses, and emotional suffering caused by another driver’s negligence.
When tragedy strikes, working with an experienced wrongful death attorney can make all the difference. A skilled attorney can investigate the cause of the accident, gather critical evidence, and represent your family’s best interests when dealing with insurance companies and at-fault parties. Having knowledgeable legal support ensures that your loved one’s memory is honored through the pursuit of justice and rightful compensation.
