Two Drivers Hurt in Head-On Crash on Mountain Ave, Bridgewater, NJ

August 13, 2026

Bridgewater, NJ (August 13, 2026) – Two drivers were hurt when their vehicles struck each other head-on on Mountain Avenue near Route 22 East.

Bridgewater Police were called to the area around 10:18 a.m., on Wednesday, August 12, where they found a 2007 Honda Pilot and a 2023 Kia Telluride disabled in the northbound lane.

The Honda was driven by a 43-year-old man from Newark, and the Kia was driven by a 19-year-old woman from South Bound Brook.

Investigators say the Honda was traveling south on Mountain Avenue when it crossed the double yellow centerline and struck the Kia head-on, for reasons still being determined.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, one to Somerset and the other to New Brunswick.

The circumstances leading up to the wreck are still being reviewed.

We hope both drivers recover quickly from their injuries.

How Is Fault Determined in a Bridgewater, NJ Car Accident? Two Drivers Hurt in Head-On Crash on Mountain Ave

Fault in a Bridgewater collision is typically established through witness statements, physical evidence, and reconstruction analysis showing which vehicle crossed the center line, and New Jersey applies a modified comparative negligence rule, which allows an injured driver to recover damages as long as they are found less than 51 percent at fault.

Even when injuries are non-life-threatening, head-on impacts can cause whiplash, concussions, and soft-tissue damage that may not be fully apparent for days.

New Jersey's no-fault insurance system requires drivers to first seek treatment through personal injury protection coverage, and depending on the policy selected, an injured driver may need to show their injuries meet the state's "limitation on lawsuit" threshold before pursuing a claim against the other driver.

A car accident lawyer can help gather police reports, medical records, and other documentation needed to establish fault and pursue compensation for medical costs and lost wages.

Because New Jersey's two-year statute of limitations applies to most motor vehicle injury claims, having this documentation organized early can matter. An attorney can also help clarify which insurance policy or coverage type applies under the state's no-fault framework.

At Metro Law, we understand how confusing it can be to sort through insurance requirements after a collision. We can review the details of your case and explain what options may apply under New Jersey law.
