Atlantic Beach, NY – Severe Injury Crash on Beech St Involving Suspected DUI

Atlantic Beach, NY (December 12, 2025) – A serious crash in Nassau County left an eleven-year-old boy with severe injuries on Wednesday, December 10, after a suspected drunk driving incident in Atlantic Beach. Police said the crash involved two vehicles and resulted in multiple injuries.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, the collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Beech Street. Authorities stated that a thirty-year-old man from Brentwood drove a Chevrolet Equinox when he struck a Chevrolet Traverse traveling in the opposite direction. The impact caused extensive damage and left several occupants injured.

Police said a fifty-two-year-old man drove the Traverse, with a forty-nine-year-old woman and the child riding as passengers. The boy suffered severe body trauma during the crash. Due to the seriousness of his condition, emergency crews airlifted him to a nearby hospital for advanced treatment.

The adult passengers in the Traverse also sustained injuries. Officials reported that the woman complained of body pain, while the driver suffered a cut to his head. Emergency responders treated both victims at the scene before transporting them for further care.

The driver of the Equinox also sustained injuries. Officers applied a tourniquet to his leg to control bleeding before taking him to a hospital. Police later determined that the driver showed signs of intoxication and placed him into custody.

Authorities charged the driver with vehicular assault, assault, driving while intoxicated, and reckless endangerment. The investigation into this crash remains active as officials continue reviewing evidence.

We extend our thoughts to the injured child and victims and wish them strength and recovery.

Drunk Driving Accidents in New York

Severe Injury Crash on Beech St Involving Suspected DUI

Drunk driving accidents often lead to devastating injuries, especially when children are involved. Alcohol impairment slows reaction times, affects judgment, and increases the force of crashes. In residential and coastal communities like Atlantic Beach, these collisions can occur suddenly and without warning.

Victims of drunk driving accidents may face long recovery periods, emotional trauma, and significant financial strain. Severe injuries often require hospital stays, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical care. Families must also cope with disruptions to work, school, and daily life.

Possible compensation that victims may seek after a drunk driving crash can include:

  • Medical expenses, including emergency care, surgeries, rehabilitation, and future treatment needs
  • Pain and suffering, which addresses physical pain and emotional distress caused by the injuries
  • Lost income, covering missed work time and reduced earning ability during recovery
  • Future care costs, especially when injuries require long-term assistance or therapy
  • Emotional trauma damages, particularly when a child suffers serious harm
  • Punitive damages, which may apply in cases involving reckless or intoxicated behavior

Each case depends on injury severity, evidence, and insurance coverage. Acting quickly can help preserve records, witness accounts, and medical documentation. Early legal guidance from a drunk driving accident attorney can help families avoid costly mistakes during a stressful time.
