Bronx, NY (April 16, 2026) – A man lost his life in a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Thursday, April 16. The accident happened overnight on the southbound side near Jerome Avenue in the Tremont area.

The New York State Police said the crash involved a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles. Investigators reported that a Kia SUV had stopped in the left lane for reasons that remain unclear when a tractor-trailer struck it.

Moments later, a Toyota Corolla approached and crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer. The 30-year-old man driving the Corolla suffered severe injuries and died following the impact.
