Branchburg, NJ – Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on RTE 202 N
Branchburg, NJ (November 7, 2024) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Wednesday, November 6, in Branchburg, involving a motorcycle and an SUV. The tragic incident, reported by the Branchburg Police Department, took place at approximately 3:08 p.m. on Route 202 North, near the intersection of Old York Rd (Centerville), at the border of Branchburg and Readington.
According to the investigation, the driver of the motorcycle, a 36-year-old man from Basking Ridge, was traveling northbound on Route 202 when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to suffer severe injuries. Local authorities, including the Branchburg and Readington Police, as well as the Branchburg Rescue Squad EMS and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics, arrived promptly at the scene to provide medical assistance. Despite their swift response, the motorcyclist was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to the extensive injuries he sustained in the crash.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was an SUV driven by a 37-year-old woman from Bedminster, NJ. The woman was accompanied by a juvenile passenger. Both were evaluated on-site by emergency medical personnel. While the SUV driver refused additional medical attention, the juvenile was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital for further treatment, though their condition has not been released.
As a result of the severity of the crash, Route 202 North was closed from Pleasant Run Rd in Readington Township through Branchburg, with traffic being diverted by the New Jersey State Department of Transportation. Emergency responders worked diligently to clear the scene, and local firefighters assisted in extricating the vehicles from the roadway. Law enforcement officials are investigating the crash.
