Brick Township, NJ (October 25, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon in Brick Township, resulting in the death of a 64-year-old man. The incident, reported by the Brick Township Police Department, took place at approximately 2:34 p.m. at the intersection of Brick Boulevard and Yorktowne Boulevard, a location known for its heavy traffic.
According to authorities, Horace Giambona was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson Electra Glide north on Brick Blvd when he approached the Yorktowne Blvd intersection. A white 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Rick Stamm, 56, had stopped at the intersection to yield to an ambulance with its emergency lights and siren activated. As Giambona neared the intersection, he attempted to stop but lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to skid dangerously.
In a desperate effort to avoid a collision, Giambona laid the motorcycle down on its right side. Unfortunately, he was thrown off the bike, and the motorcycle continued sliding, ultimately striking the left rear part of the pickup truck. The impact resulted in serious injuries to Giambona.
Emergency medical services swiftly arrived on the scene, providing immediate care before transporting Giambona to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the pickup truck, although shaken, was unharmed in the incident. Local authorities effectively managed traffic and secured the area following the accident, while firefighters assisted in clearing the roadway and ensuring the safety of all involved.
This tragic accident serves as a somber reminder of the inherent risks associated with motorcycle riding, particularly in busy intersections. The community of Brick Township is mourning the loss of a life cut short and is reminded of the importance of vigilance on the roads.
