New Jersey Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents are usually very severe and can even turn out to be fatal. Pedestrians are often traveling with virtually no protection against the force of fast-moving vehicles, and drivers are often traveling while distracted, fatigued, intoxicated, or at unsafe speeds. This puts pedestrians in a dangerous and vulnerable position while they are traveling. Negligent driving has become the main cause of the majority of auto accidents in the United States, according to information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. On average, more than 5,000 pedestrians are killed per year in the United States. Over half of pedestrian crashes are caused by negligent driving. Additionally, in 2018, more than 130,000 pedestrian accidents were reported in the US.
Each year, more than 3 million people are hurt in auto collisions in the United States. Some of the most commonly seen forms of negligent driving in America today include:
- Distraction
- Speeding
- Intoxication
- Fatigue
