Brighton Beach, NY – Woman Killed After Solar Panel Falls at Ocean Pkwy & Brighton Beach Ave

Brighton Beach, NY (October 13, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman Sunday morning, October 12, after a loose solar panel fell from its mount and struck her in Brighton Beach.

According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Avenue. The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive after the impact. Emergency responders transported her to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police closed off the area, which included a parking lot lined with multiple solar canopies. Investigators noted that at least one of the structures appeared to be missing a panel. The lot is owned by ShoreCrest Towers, located at 3000 Ocean Parkway.

Authorities are working to determine how the panel became detached and whether negligence or equipment failure played a role in the deadly incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this heartbreaking time.
