New York Car Accidents
One of the most common reasons people suffer injuries and lose their lives in the United States is car accidents. Sadly, the majority of these accidents are completely preventable. This is because they are caused by negligent driving. On average, every year, over 92% of reported car wrecks in the United States are caused by some form of driver negligence. Currently, the most prevalent form of driver negligence throughout the country is driver distraction. On average, over 400,000 car wrecks happen per year that are caused by distracted drivers. Most often, drivers are distracted by their cell phones.
If you are a responsible driver, then it is likely that you will not cause an injury accident. Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict the behavior of other drivers on the road. We want to think that everyone else is just as responsible as we are, however, this can’t always be the case. Sometimes, people act negligently while behind the wheel, and accidents happen. Being hurt in a negligently caused car crash can be a devastating experience.
If you were hurt in an accident caused by a negligent driver, you are most likely eligible to collect financial compensation for the losses and damages you’re facing in relation to your recent crash. You can usually collect compensation from the driver at-fault as well as the insurance company.
A publication distributed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning American car crashes shows that in the United States, there has been an 11% increase in the number of auto accidents since 2015. As the population in America continues to expand, the total number of inexperienced, reckless, and distracted drivers continues to rise as well. If you were hurt by a negligent driver, you should work with an auto accident lawyer who can help you file a personal injury claim for compensation.
