Brooklyn, NY – Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle at 9th St & 2nd Ave
Brooklyn, NY (January 10, 2023) – A bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Gowanus, Brooklyn. At approximately 7:30 a.m., the incident was reported to area officials, who promptly responded to the scene.
Reports indicate the wreck happened at the intersection of 9th Street and 2nd Avenue. Sources state a person riding a bike was hit by a car. The driver remained on-site and cooperated with the police.
EMS responded, along with police and other responders. The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries when they were hit by the car, according to information provided by officials.
Police requested additional units in order to block the area off so they could investigate. Traffic was shut down at 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, as well as Smith Street and 9th Street. Multiple police units worked in the area for an extended period of time on the morning of January 10.
At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains unknown. Authorities in Brooklyn are still investigating the circumstances of the incident.
