Brooklyn, NY (February 3, 2026) – A deadly crash in Brooklyn claimed the life of an e-bike rider on Sunday, February 1. The New York Police Department reported the accident happened just after 1 a.m. near Ashland Place and Willoughby Avenue. The incident involved an ambulance and an electric bicycle traveling in opposite directions.
Authorities said the ambulance was moving northbound on Ashland Place when it collided with an e-bike traveling southbound. The impact caused severe injuries to the rider. Emergency units arrived quickly to assist at the scene and provide medical support.
The victim, a 65-year-old man riding the e-bike, was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors later pronounced him dead. Police did not release his name. The ambulance driver, a 21-year-old man, stayed at the scene after the crash and cooperated with authorities.
Two passengers inside the ambulance, both employees, also suffered injuries during the wreck. Paramedics took them to the hospital, where they remained in stable condition. Officials have not confirmed the organization or affiliation connected to the ambulance involved.
