Clifton, NJ (April 14, 2026) – A tractor-trailer crash left two people injured after the vehicle slammed into a building on Monday, April 13, in Clifton. The accident happened around 2:22 a.m. at the exit ramp from eastbound Route 3 to Passaic Avenue.
Police said the truck, which was hauling dog food, failed to navigate the turn while exiting the highway. The tractor-trailer went off course and crashed directly into a nearby building, causing severe structural damage.
The driver became trapped inside the cab after it pushed into the building. Clifton Fire and emergency units worked for about an hour to safely remove him. Officials said he remained alert and is expected to survive.
A second-floor resident also needed help after the crash. Crews used a ladder to reach and rescue the person from the building. Both the driver and the resident suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening and were taken to a nearby hospital.
