Crawford, NY – Head-On Accident Takes Life of Gerald Filcher on Route 17K
Crawford, NY (September 29, 2023) – A fatal motor vehicle collision took place in the town of Crawford on Saturday, September 23. At around 10:00 a.m., the New York State Police along with the Town of Crawford Police Department were dispatched to the scene of the accident on State Route 17K.
Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident that occurred when a 2006 International truck operated by Marcos Medina, 33, from Bronx, NY, was headed east on 17K. For unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and collided with a 1993 Toyota Tacoma headed west.
The truck came to rest on its side after the crash. Medina had to be extricated from his vehicle following the collision. The operator of the Tacoma, 64-year-old Gerald Filcher, of Bloomingburg, was pronounced deceased on-site.
Police in Crawford continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
