Egg Harbor Township, NJ (January 26, 2026) – A serious injury crash was reported early Sunday morning in Egg Harbor Township after a vehicle struck a utility pole and the driver fled the scene, leaving an injured passenger behind. The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, near the intersection of Black Horse Pike and Venice Avenue.
Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway and hit a utility pole in the West Atlantic City section of the township. After the crash, the driver ran from the scene on foot instead of staying to assist the injured passenger.
According to police, the driver briefly attempted to hide in the bed of a pickup truck that had stopped nearby to check on the crash. Officials also reported that the driver tried to take tools from the back of the truck before emergency units located and detained him.
Both the driver and the passenger, who are 24 years old, were hurt in the crash. Emergency units transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police described the passenger’s injuries as serious, though specific details about the injuries were not released.
Authorities stated that the driver faces several charges related to the incident, including offenses connected to leaving the scene.
No additional information has been released about the condition of either person or what caused the vehicle to lose control before striking the pole. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts remain with the injured passenger as they receive medical care and continue their recovery.
How Can a Lawyer Help After a Car Accident in New Jersey?

After a car accident in New Jersey, a lawyer can help make sense of what comes next. They can explain state insurance rules, including no-fault coverage and when you can pursue a claim against another driver. An attorney may gather police reports, medical records, and witness statements to document injuries and damages.
They can handle communication with insurers, review settlement offers, and flag deadlines such as the statute of limitations. If a dispute arises, a lawyer can negotiate or file a lawsuit and represent you in court, helping protect your rights while you focus on recovery after a stressful and overwhelming accident.
Being injured as a passenger can also create practical challenges. Medical bills, missed work, and follow-up appointments can quickly add up. Keeping medical records, discharge paperwork, and insurance information organized can make recovery easier to manage.
A car accident attorney can help explain what options may be available after a drunk driving crash. Legal guidance can include reviewing medical records, insurance coverage, and the circumstances of the crash. An attorney can also explain how compensation may be available for medical expenses and other losses, depending on the situation.
