Fatal Car Accidents in New Jersey

Fatal car accidents like this one on Interstate 78 highlight how quickly lives can be changed forever. Losing a loved one in a crash is devastating, leaving families to cope with grief, sudden expenses, and difficult questions about what comes next.

In New Jersey, families who lose someone due to a negligent or reckless driver may have the right to file a wrongful death claim.

A wrongful death claim is designed to help surviving family members recover financial support after a tragic loss. Families may be able to receive compensation for:

  • Funeral and burial costs
  • Medical expenses from the accident
  • Lost wages and financial support the loved one would have provided
  • Emotional pain, suffering, and loss of companionship

It is also important to act quickly. New Jersey law sets a strict time limit, known as the statute of limitations, for filing wrongful death and personal injury claims. A delay in seeking legal help could make it harder to recover the compensation a family needs. This is why working with a brave and accomplished wrongful death attorney is so important.

A knowledgeable lawyer can investigate the accident, gather evidence, and build a strong case against those responsible. They can also handle insurance companies and the legal system, giving families the time and space they need to focus on healing.
