How Long Do I Have to File a Claim After a Crash in New Jersey?
In New Jersey, a person usually has two years from the date of a crash to file a personal injury claim. This time limit applies in most injury cases and plays a key role in whether a claim can move forward. Acting within this window helps keep legal options open.
Filing sooner rather than later can make a difference. Evidence such as photos, witness statements, and medical records may be easier to gather right after a collision. Keeping track of paperwork, including treatment records and insurance communication, can help create a clear timeline of events.
Motorcycle crashes often lead to injuries that require careful follow-up. Riders may face road rash, fractures, or head injuries, even with protective gear. Some symptoms may not show up right away, so medical visits help track recovery and provide useful documentation for ongoing care.
In these cases, a motorcycle accident lawyer can explain how New Jersey deadlines apply to a specific case. They may also review records, organize documents, and help clarify what types of compensation may be available based on the situation.
