Bicycle Accidents in New Jersey Bicycle vs Truck Collision Leaves Rider Injured Near JFK Blvd

Bicycle accidents remain a serious safety issue in New Jersey, particularly on major roads. Cyclists often share the road with cars and commercial vehicles, which increases the risk of severe injury when collisions occur. Traffic congestion, limited bike lanes, and driver inattention can all contribute to dangerous conditions for riders.

When a bicyclist is struck by a truck, the injuries can be extensive. Victims of bicycle accidents may suffer trauma that affects both physical health and daily independence. Medical recovery can take months and may require ongoing care.

Possible injuries bicyclists may face after being hit by a truck include:

  • Traumatic brain injuries, even when a helmet is worn, can occur due to sudden impact or secondary contact with the ground
  • Spinal cord injuries that may cause chronic pain, limited mobility, or long-term disability
  • Severe leg injuries, including fractures, deep lacerations, or crush injuries require surgery
  • Broken bones in the arms, ribs, or pelvis caused by direct impact or being thrown from the bicycle
  • Internal injuries that may not be immediately visible but require urgent medical evaluation
  • Soft tissue injuries such as muscle tears, ligament damage, and extensive bruising
  • Emotional trauma, including anxiety or fear related to riding or traveling near traffic

Determining what led to a bicycle crash often requires a detailed investigation. Officers may review traffic patterns, driver behavior, vehicle size and blind spots, and whether the cyclist had adequate space on the roadway. Evidence from witnesses and nearby cameras can also play an important role.

After a serious bicycle crash, injured individuals may have questions about their rights and next steps. A personal injury lawyer can help explain legal options, review accident details, and assist with insurance claims involving motor vehicles and commercial trucks.
