Car Accidents in New Jersey
New Jersey sees a significant number of motor vehicle accidents each year, with thousands of people sustaining injuries. Many of these crashes occur on major roadways like Route 70, where high traffic volumes increase the risk of collisions. In recent years, data has shown that distracted driving, speeding, and other reckless behaviors contribute to a large percentage of crashes in the state.
There are several common reasons why car accidents happen. Below are a few contributing factors that frequently lead to crashes:
- Distracted Driving – Cell phone use, eating, and other distractions take a driver’s attention off the road, increasing the risk of accidents.
- Speeding – Exceeding the speed limit reduces reaction time and increases the severity of crashes.
- Failing to Yield – Many accidents happen when drivers ignore traffic signals or fail to yield the right-of-way at intersections.
- Weather Conditions – Rain, snow, and fog make roads slick and decrease visibility, leading to more crashes.
- Impaired Driving – Alcohol and drug use significantly impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.
