Linden, NJ (October 4, 2024) – A motorcycle crash occurred Thursday night, October 3, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old motorcyclist. The incident took place along RTE 1 & 9, near the Phillips 66 terminal entrance, around 11:30 p.m.
According to officials from the Linden Police Department, the crash happened as a pickup truck was traveling through the terminal’s turnaround. Before the collision, the motorcyclist had exited Interstate 278 onto Routes 1 & 9. Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was riding at a high rate of speed before the accident.
The motorcyclist, a resident of Brooklyn, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders, including police and firefighters, arrived promptly to control the situation, manage traffic, and assist in the extraction of the vehicles involved. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released, as authorities continue to notify his next of kin.
Ambulances transported the deceased to a local hospital, while police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are working diligently to gather more details about the events leading up to this unfortunate incident.
