New York Pedestrian Accidents
Every year, numerous people end up dying in auto collisions throughout the state of New York. A percentage of these are pedestrians. These accidents often have a large impact on the surviving loved ones of the deceased victims. Surviving family members are often forced to go through very stressful and tumultuous experiences related to the untimely passing of their loved one. Sadly, the majority of pedestrians who lose their lives in traffic accidents are killed by negligent motorists. Some drivers choose to act recklessly and carelessly while operating their vehicles which leads to millions of vehicle collisions per year in the United States. In fact, distracted driving is the main contributor in the majority of auto collisions today.
Annually, over 400,000 car crashes happen due to distracted driving. The most common form of driver distraction is texting and driving. Over 50% of American drivers admit to texting and driving. Inattention due to texting, talking on the phone, conversing with passengers, or other distractions may lead to a driver failing to see a pedestrian in the roadway until it is too late.
Intoxicated driving, whether drivers are influenced by drugs or alcohol, may also pose a severe threat to the well-being of pedestrians. Drunk and high drivers usually struggle to stay in the right lane, have trouble safely turning, and stopping at intersections. Consequently, countless pedestrians end up losing their lives due to motorists who drive while impaired.
