Madison, NJ – Fatal Two-Car Accident on Route 24 near Greenwood Road
Madison, NJ (December 12, 2022) – Two vehicles were completely destroyed in a horrific head-on crash just outside of Madison and Florham Park on December 8. While state police have not yet completed their accident report, sources say the driver of one of the vehicles was traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes when his vehicle collided head-on with another car.
The accident took place on Route 24 at approximately 11:00 a.m. this past Thursday between a Dodge Durango and a Mercedes Benz SUV. Both vehicles had their front ends completely crushed in the collision. Reports show that one person was killed in the crash, however, the total number of injured victims has not been determined at this time.
Local officials said the incident occurred near Greenwood Road and mile marker 4.6 on the border of Madison and Florham Park. Traffic was completely stopped in both directions on the highway as state police descended on the accident scene in droves.
The fatal crash investigation team was on the two-lane roadway for hours as traffic backed up for miles, particularly in the westbound lanes. Finally, just around 1:00 p.m., eastbound traffic started moving again.
Sources say the driver of one of the vehicles was pinned beneath the dashboard and had to be cut out of the car. They were transported to the hospital with very serious injuries. At least one person lost their life in the accident, however, no one involved has been identified at this time.
We offer our sincere sympathies to the deceased victim’s family.
New Jersey Car Accidents
Car crash injuries can totally change the lives of victims. The pain and time spent recovering can prevent you from returning to work, caring for your family, or even performing simple, everyday tasks. Stacking medical bills paired with lost wages may also pose a threat to your financial future. Determining who should cover the costs related to your losses may be stressful and overwhelming. If you do not want to miss out on valuable financial compensation, it is vital to know your legal rights and act swiftly.
If you were hurt in a crash caused by another person, you should be aware that New Jersey is a no-fault insurance state. This means that all drivers in New Jersey must carry personal injury protection insurance (PIP.) This PIP coverage will help cover the costs related to your accident up to your policy’s limits. This is true regardless of who caused the crash. Depending on your particular policy, PIP coverage may also provide compensation for other economic damages, such as income loss.
Unfortunately, the costs associated with medical care from a car accident are usually a lot higher than the limits of a PIP policy. In this situation, you may be eligible to pursue financial compensation from the at-fault party or their insurance company.
The best way to figure out whether or not your claim is valid is to speak with a skilled personal injury attorney in New Jersey. A lawyer can also negotiate a full and fair settlement from the insurance company for you. Insurance companies regularly handle car crash claims, and their adjusters are skilled and cut-throat negotiators. Even if your collision was especially severe, you may be unable to get fair compensation without the assistance of a skilled attorney.
In the worst-case scenario where you have lost a loved one in a fatal accident caused by a negligent driver, working with a wrongful death lawyer in Madison can help you collect compensation for funeral costs and other damages related to the death of your loved one.
