New Bedford, NJ – One Injured in Hit & Run Crash on Coggeshall St near Acushnet Ave

New Bedford, NJ (February 23, 2023) – A man from New Bedford has been charged with negligent and drunk driving, among other violations, after he fled from the scene of a hit-and-run accident over the weekend. 

Police in New Bedford say the accident happened Sunday morning, February 19, at approximately 1:45 a.m. An SUV rear-ended a sedan at the intersection of Coggeshall Street and Acushnet Avenue. 

Two people were in the sedan at the time of the crash while three people were present in the SUV. One person in the sedan was treated for injuries. The driver of the SUV allegedly fled the scene with two other passengers. They were all caught shortly after the crash happened. 

A third passenger present in the SUV was injured and transported to the hospital. Police in New Bedford continue to investigate. 

We hope for the full recovery of those with injuries.
