New City, NY – School Bus and Commercial Van Collide on Germonds Rd, Injuries Reported

New City, NY (October 23, 2025) – Several people were taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning, October 22, after a school bus and a commercial van collided in Rockland County. The crash occurred along Germonds Road between Gerlach and Germonds Presbyterian Church, prompting emergency crews to close the roadway for several hours.

According to Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann, no life-threatening injuries were reported, but multiple crash victims were transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. The collision caused delays as firefighters, paramedics, and police officers worked to assess injuries and clear the scene.

Officials have not yet confirmed what caused the school bus and commercial van to collide. Investigators spent the morning gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The road has since reopened, but the investigation remains ongoing by the Clarkston Police Department.

We hope for a full and speedy recovery for those injured in this crash.

Bus accidents, even those without severe injuries, can be frightening and traumatic for everyone involved. In New York, school buses and commercial vehicles share busy roadways every day. When collisions occur, they often involve multiple passengers and can cause both physical and emotional harm.

Common causes of bus accidents in New York include driver inattention, unsafe turns, speeding, mechanical issues, or poor weather conditions. In some cases, failure to properly maintain buses or vans may also contribute to serious accidents.

When large vehicles like school buses and commercial vans collide, the size and weight difference can magnify the damage and injuries sustained.

Victims of these types of crashes may face hospital bills, therapy costs, or lost income from missing work. In situations involving school buses, parents may also experience emotional stress and concern for their children’s safety.
