Rochester, NY (August 5, 2024) – A 32-year-old woman is facing DWI charges following a serious two-vehicle collision on Monday morning, August 5, on Glenwood Avenue in northwest Rochester. Police responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m., where they discovered a 28-year-old female passenger suffering from non-life-threatening upper body injuries. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported her to Strong Memorial Hospital for additional treatment.
Upon investigation, authorities determined that the injured woman was a passenger in a vehicle that allegedly ran a stop sign, resulting in a crash with another car that had the right of way. While both drivers escaped the incident unscathed, the driver of the vehicle that caused the collision was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The scene of the crash showed debris scattered across the road and emergency responders working to secure the area and tend to the injured passenger. Eyewitnesses reported hearing the loud crash and rushing outside to find the wreckage. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to gather all details surrounding the incident, including any potential contributing factors such as speeding or additional traffic violations. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, is expected to face multiple charges related to the incident. The police are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward as the investigation continues.
We hope all injured victims make a timely and complete recovery.
