Totowa, NJ (January 5, 2026) – New Jersey State Police responded to a deadly early-morning crash on January 5 that claimed at least two lives in Passaic County. The collision occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near mile marker 54.2 in Totowa.
Troopers and emergency crews arrived just before 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash involving injuries. Upon arrival, responders encountered a severe two-vehicle collision. One of the vehicles contained multiple trapped occupants, including a young child.
Rescue crews immediately began working to free those inside the damaged vehicle. Firefighters used specialized tools to access the interior and assist victims. Medical personnel stood by as rescuers worked under urgent conditions.
