New York Car Crashes
Being hurt in a traffic accident is never easy. Oftentimes, crash victims suffer injuries that are severe and sometimes even debilitating. These injuries can force them into the hospital, where they must remain for days, weeks, or longer while they attempt to recover. On top of enduring invasive and exhausting medical care, the costs associated with an experience of this nature can be astronomical. On average, the cost of recovering from a severe car crash injury in the US ranges in the tens of thousands of dollars. Every year, the United States sees over 6 million car crashes that cause around 3 million people to sustain injuries. Sadly, approximately 40,000 individuals end up losing their lives in these wrecks per year. The most common reason American car crashes occur is driver negligence, which causes over 90% of reported collisions, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. The most common form of driver negligence displayed on American roadways today is driver distraction, mostly concerning cell phones. We operate motor vehicles so frequently that it has almost become second nature. We are always in our vehicles, mostly daily, getting from point A to point B. Due to this, we find it to be non-problematic when we look at our phones or tablets while driving. Most newly manufactured vehicles come with built-in screens. However, taking your eyes off the roadway for any reason while your foot is on the gas can prove to be deadly. Every year, over 3,000 people lose their lives due to distracted driving.
